Day 1. Arrive Broome

Be transferred from the airport to your hotel. Take the time to explore this historic pearling town before enjoying dinner.

Day 2. Broome

Today is yours to spend at leisure. Perhaps go for a stroll through town, head to the striking red rock faces of Gantheaume Point, or take a sunset camel ride along Cable Beach (own expense).

Day 3. Broome, Fitzroy Crossing

Leave the coast behind and head inland to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 4. Geikie Gorge, Halls Creek

After breakfast, cruise the stunning Geikie Gorge, and admire its multi-coloured limestone walls. Then, journey to Halls Creek.

Day 5. Halls Creek, Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine, El Questro Wilderness Park

Tour Lirrgarn Argyle Diamond Mine then travel to El Questro Wilderness Park. Special Stay – enjoy the bush surroundings at Emma Gorge Resort.

Day 6. El Questro Wilderness Park

Visit Zebedee Springs, then cruise along Chamberlain Gorge. Perhaps take a walk into Emma Gorge and swim beneath the droplet waterfall. A Taste of Western Australia – indulge in a delicious home-style dinner on the verandah.

Day 7. El Questro Wilderness Park, Lake Argyle, Ord River, Kununurra

Travel along the Gibb River Road to Lake Argyle before joining a wildlife cruise on the Ord River.

Day 8. Kununurra, Katherine

Depart Kununurra today and pass through Timber Creek before arriving in Katherine.

Day 14. King George River, Tranquil Bay

Jump aboard the Explorer and discover rugged gorges carved by the force of the mighty King George River. Like a Local – board the Zodiacs and cruise to the base of magnificent King George Falls. Towering 80 metres above the water below, the twin falls are one of the Kimberley’s most spectacular attractions. Later, explore the beautiful beach and luscious green landscape at Tranquil Bay.

Day 15. Vansittart Bay, Jar Island

Be guided across salt flats at Vansittart Bay to view the wreckage of a US Air Force DC3, which crash-landed on the beach during World War II. Later, guest lecturers will guide you through Jar Island’s incredible rock art, including the mysterious Bradshaw paintings, or Gwion Gwion, dating back some 20,000 years.

Day 16. Winyalken Bay

After anchoring in Winyalken Bay, travel ashore and explore the maze of natural sandstone caves of Hathaway’s Hideaway. A Taste of Western Australia – this evening, pull up a chair and watch as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean while you savour a delicious gourmet Australian beach barbecue.

Day 17. Bigge Island, Careening Bay

Visit Bigge Island’s ancient Wandjina and Bradshaw rock art. Spend some time at leisure wandering Careening Bay. Early explorer Phillip Parker King named the bay after his ship, the HMC Mermaid, was careened for repairs during his second of four voyages navigating Australian waters. With a knowledgeable guide, you’ll journey to the site of the iconic boab tree engraved with ‘HMC Mermaid 1820’, miraculously visible almost 200 years on.

Day 18. Prince Regent River, King Cascades

Aboard the Explorer, cruise the Prince Regent River, which runs almost straight for most of its length. Like a Local – admire the breathtaking King Cascades, an unusual terraced waterfall. Enjoy a picnic lunch at beautiful Camp Creek where you might like to take a refreshing dip.

Day 19. Montgomery Reef, Doubtful Bay

Today you’ll experience a truly magical moment when Montgomery Reef rises out of the ocean as the tide recedes. Discover the reef’s diverse marine life including turtles, manta rays and reef sharks. Later, cruise through scenic Doubtful Bay, where rugged cliffs rise from the sea.

Day 20. Kuri Bay, Raft Point, Ruby Falls

Cruise Kuri Bay, home of the south sea pearl industry. Board the Explorer and travel ashore at striking Raft Point where you’ll see ancient Wandjina rock art and some of the Kimberley’s most well-preserved Bradshaw paintings. Later, explore Red Cone Creek and cool down with a leisurely swim in Ruby Falls.

Day 21. Buccaneer Archipelago, Talbot Bay, Horizontal Falls

Travel through the Buccaneer Archipelago, dotted with more than 800 islands. Located within Talbot Bay is the incredible Horizontal Falls. When the 12-metre tide turns, strong currents rush through two narrow coastal gorges, creating a cascade effect. Like a Local – board the Zodiacs for an exhilarating ride through the falls. Later, enjoy white sands and pristine waters at Silica Beach.

Day 22. Lacepede Islands

Cruise Pender Bay and visit the secluded Lacepede Islands (subject to conditions). Discover the lagoon’s abundance of marine birds, from pelicans to egrets. Tonight, unwind at the Captain’s Farewell Drinks.
